ABOUT SONY FOUNDATION
Sony Foundation is the charitable arm of the Sony group of companies in Australia. Our mission is to capitalise on the unique qualities of Sony and contribute to the advancement of the Australian community by assisting its youth and fostering their talents.
To achieve this goal, we have raised in excess of $12 million over the last decade. Working with charity partners, we have funded a range of innovative youth programs which have helped thousands of young Australians facing issues such as homelessness, severe illness, drug and alcohol addiction and disability.
In 2010 Sony Foundation announced our intention to support long-term charity partner CanTeen in their mission to provide 15 – 30 year old cancer sufferers with the services they not only need but deserve.
The You Can campaign, to fund the establishment of youth cancer centres across Australia, is truly reflective of Sony Foundation’s mission. To achieve our goal of helping CanTeen raise the $15 million necessary to fund these centres, we recognise we will need the public’s support. To engage the public and highlight the issues Australian youth face when battling cancer, Sony Foundation will launch the You Can television, radio and print media campaign, in the hope that we can inspire all Australians to act and contribute to the cause by donating old mobile phones.
